Special Prayers

Adding a short special prayer to our daily devotions for a particular topic, issue, or situation of significance is appropriate.  These special prayers will change monthly, so please check back weekly for each week's special prayer.

March 1

Bethlehem, Richland Center, Wis. – Lord Jesus, we praise you for your victory over sin and death that we are privileged to proclaim through our actions and words. Thank you for blessing the home mission efforts of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Richland Center, Wis., so that they were able to connect with their neighbors through several years of events leading to a successful opening service. Guide them as they continue to show care to their community, teach your gospel, and plan for building a church in Richland Center. Amen.

March 8

Grow in Grace – Lord Jesus, our Good Shepherd, we thank you for providing pastors to shepherd the congregations of our synod. Bless our efforts to provide continuing education, mentorship, and ministry resources to pastors through the Grow in Grace institute of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. Use the program to strengthen faith, encourage the discouraged, and inspire dedicated service to you. Provide the leaders of Grow in Grace with wisdom and bless them with the means necessary to ensure the program benefits everyone involved. Amen.

March 15

Latin America – Lord Jesus, you commanded your church to “go into all the world” with your Word. You have enabled our synod to reach many faraway places with the gospel. We thank you for blessing our efforts in Latin America through the Academia Cristo Facebook and web pages. We especially ask you to bless the new connections made with students in Paraguay who are eager to share the gospel with their countrymen. Send your Holy Spirit to open hearts and minds to your saving grace. Amen.

March 22

WELS principals – Heavenly Father, thank you for the Lutheran school system with which you have blessed our synod to train and guide our children with your Holy Word. Bless the leaders of all our schools. We especially ask you to bestow your grace on the teachers completing their training in the 21st Century Lutheran Principal Initiative. Give them wisdom in their work and use their service to your glory and the growth of your kingdom. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

March 29

Northwestern Publishing House – Lord God Almighty, thank you for providing our synod with a publishing house that creates Bible study materials and devotional resources that are faithful to the Holy Scriptures. We especially praise you for the publication of Luther’s Catechism, the Evangelical Heritage Version of the Bible, as well as the production of the new hymnal and all its accompanying resources. Let these tools be utilized in our congregations to honor you and to strengthen the faith of your people. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Special Topic Prayers

Dear Lord Jesus, during your earthly ministry there was no sickness you could not heal and no pain that you could not comfort. Even now it is you who gives comfort and healing to all who suffer. Let your loving hand rest upon all who are sick or injured. Let them know that no matter what problems they face, your power is made perfect in weakness. Ease their pain, calm their fears, and encourage their faith with the promise of your grace. Amen.

Heavenly Father, as I meet other people today help me treat them with love and kindness. Help me try to understand them instead of getting frustrated and angry. Let me be ready to forgive their sins, eager to help them, and bold to confess my Savior to them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, it’s good to know that one way we show our love to you, is through the work we do for ourselves and for others. We praise you for the blessing of work. We realize, dear Lord, that our sinful nature grows tired of the same old routine, where we sometimes feel overworked, under appreciated, under valued, or overstressed. Yet you remind us in your the Word that we are to be thankful for a job, and that we can ask you to help us use the knowledge and skill you have given us to the best of our ability. Thank you that through work, you allow us to provide for our families and our future. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Almighty God, you chose us to be your own. You loved us so much that even though you expect perfection, you gave us a way out. You forgave us and sent your son, Jesus, to take the punishment for all the wrongs we have done by dying on the cross. And as if that wasn’t enough, Jesus rose again and has prepared a place for us to live with him in our eternal paradise. Please be with us as we share this awesome message with others. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, you are my one and only Savior. I need the blessings you have set aside for me. Assure me that I am forgiven. Remind me that you promise eternal life in heaven with you. Give me a strong faith that always looks to you for these things. Amen.
